It rains hardest for a bountiful harvest

August! The month for rains here in the Northern part of Nigeria. Oh! Every farmer looks forward to it because he believes it will bring about a good reward for his labour. More so, the weather becomes good, everywhere is lush and green. From the smell of fresh corn to the appetising fruits and veggies, it seems a perfect month, little wonder eight signifies new beginnings but with great provision comes greater responsibility and doggedness to not be hindered by the comfort of a warm bed or the distress of wet days else one ends up like the sluggard.

As it is with the seasons of rain, so it is with our lives. You see life is in seasons and sometimes it feels hot and dry, at other times wet, flooded and drowning, some other time its perfect. There are times the pressure builds trying to drown hope like the rains do threaten to spoil crops but somewhere in the midst of it all, the plants are preserved, how? I don’t know, maybe they cried to God for help. You say sometimes the crops are lost, true but how deep were its roots? What was the quality and capacity of the soil?

The world has been dealt blows and that has affected many in diverse ways mostly adverse and asides the co-operate struggles there are many personal battles with help seemingly out of reach. I just thought to encourage you today, it may be “raining cats and dogs” in your life and it seems your efforts to "cultivate" a good life and gain a “beautiful harvest” is going down the drain, hang in there in that storm, you are not alone on the boat Jesus is right there as your anchor. Look not to the storm or you drown, fix your gaze on Him and He will give you a safe landing. You just might be at the brink of your “eight month” and I tell you, now’s not the time to lose faith and explore “other options”, you are not weak; you've got just enough strength to break through.

Keep working at it, keep speaking, and keep hope alive, your morning will dawn sooner than you imagined.

Do not fret or have anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

Philippians 4:6 (AMP)
