  Hmm! Love hunger, oh the millions of people that walk around with full bellies but emaciated within for lack of love.   Valentine’s Day was some days ago, a day when people celebrate love in different expressions. While I believe it’s appropriate to celebrate love, I could not help but think of the thousands of young ladies out there who paid a dear price ignorantly or perhaps by choice to be a part of it. Relationships that should have been broken were mended for a mere gift, their pride laid on the altar of a dinner, sweet words, a trip, wardrobe shopping, what else could it be?   Today I want to address the important role male figures play in a girl’s life. I believe it goes deeper than most males realize. I'm not talking about romantic relationships here even though it has its implications. I speak of how it pertains to young single ladies who want to be treated like the princesses they’ve read about. I speak of a father's love, a brother's protection, an uncle...

A couple of weeks ago, while in a CMDA meeting. The Program was centred toward learning of each other’s biblical role models. Sitting there in the back row, I thought to myself, do I have a particular role model? I found that I didn't, however, I did realize that at different seasons of my life I have seen how my life looked similar to that of some biblical heroes and studying through their life events helped me draw strength. Lost in my thoughts suddenly, I saw that at that moment Mary was that picture to me. Taking some minutes to meditate over her life, I see how great a price she did pay. A fine mix of surrender, sacrifice, faith, hope and fear. Mary a young girl probably a teenager, who was set to have her dream wedding with her heartthrob, after picking out the colours, date and all, suddenly has a visit from an angel who says she is going to be pregnant and have a child.  Surely pregnancy could not be hidden, mothers can tell before there ever is a baby bump.
