Beyond the white coat
It's been two(2) years of practice as a Medical Doctor and the journey has come in different shades with every experience stretching me beyond the previous limit and pushing toward something better. Medical practice has been a blessing, not that it comes with a lot of benefits but because I get to serve selflessly and see the smile of a patient that gets better. As a reflect today, I wonder if, asides family members and close associates, does the world really see beyond the white coat? Pardon me if I'm wrong, however it seems to me that the world sees a help, a hero/heroine, a doctor, "the favoured specie", just someone paid to take care of health issues and that person has to be available when needed no matter the timing or circumstance but is that all about us? Do you remember doctors are humans? Do you recognize that they have a life outside work with responsibilities just like you? Do you know the traumas? Do you see the scars?
